A uni student studying Professional Music Business in Brighton, with an endless intrigue in music of all forms. I work as primarily as a live music photographer but house so many thoughts, I turned to journalism. During my first year at uni I studied music journalism and the importance of long-form journalism, creating a zine for one of my assignments I interviewed my housemates band, researched infamous parties of the 70s, 80s and 90s, and studied the 100 club in London.

The name acts as both an ode to one of my favourite albums from the 80s ‘So Red The Rose’ by Arcadia, and to my middle name- Rose.

I write about music of all battalions. From emerging bands/ in my local music scenes of London and Brighton, to gigs I attend and music releases I love, to historical music culture of all forms.

I also write to manifest my own thoughts, rants, stories and experiences into words.

Rose In The Dark is a project created as an outlet for my love of music, my love of writing, and my love of living. Covering emerging artists in niche music scenes, historical music culture and occasionally my life. I am currently a second year student studying Music Business with a plethora of musical passions. Currently practicing artist management, live music photography and music journalism.

From roots in 90s grunge and alternative music and a very specific interest in 70s New-York punk, over the past year I found myself doing anything to immerse and implement myself into the dirt and grit of the current DIY culture, guitar, alternative and post-punk scene, listening to bands upon bands for countless hours a day.

Upon this discovery I realised how much I enjoyed watching underground bands develop into huge established acts within their own niche scenes. This is when I began researching and learning about artist management. Educating myself on the ins and outs of artist development, and how I could develop new bands in these scenes.

In terms of my interests in live music photography and music journalism, I have always loved writing recreationally- my favourite writer being 70s punk poet Patti Smith- and devouring music culture stories. When tasked with creating a 20-minute podcast on any music genre of my choosing in college, I choose math rock and ended up writing a four page article, of which I had to condense into 20 minutes- no easy feat. This was when I realised I loved writing about all things music culture. When starting uni I began studying live music photography which quickly became one of my favourite roles in the industry, something I now combine with my journalism to craft stories of all paraphernalia.

Currently I find myself working within the live events scene of Brighton, with a constant drive to surround myself in grassroots scenes and work towards aiding independent culture thrive.
